Our thoughts on the Shure SE530 earphones (April 2007):

Quite simply outstanding! As soon as these earphones arrived in our office we couldn’t wait to unleash them. After breaking back the seal to reveal the split anodised black and silver metal case you are given a clear insight into how great these earphones are going to be and with 80 years of Shure experience behind them, they were never going to disappoint.

Without a second to spare we loaded up our favourite drum solo tracks to test the SE530s soundstage, first up to test the Triple Drivers from one end of the frequency range to the other, “Drum Solo” by Slipknot from 9.0: Live

The lows are smooth, rounded, punchy, hold anything that is thrown at them and offer a true balanced sound. The mids offer a continual sound that is crystal clear through the range with a clarity that we have never seen before in a set of earphones which brings us onto the highs, cymbals as clear as being in the front row of your favourite recording artists.
